Knowledge and skills are necessary for reading welding blueprints and related blueprints and the knowledge of the welding symbols and joints. For welding costing, the student will be provided with knowledge of the welding cost parameters and their importance. This course will also provide the student with an overview of the topic of welding codes and standards. It will introduce the student to the types and titles of standards that have been developed by various organizations for the specification and control of industrial welding. In addition, it will describe recommended philosophies for interpreting and applying some of the more commonly used standards. The three most widely used welding codes, AWS D1.1, ASME Sections VIII, IX, and B31.1, and API 1104 will be covered.
